Heute der erste richtige Sommertag. Fast schon beängstigend
heiß am Nachmittag, 32 Grad C und kein Schatten.
Begonnen hat der Tag mit einem 7% Anstieg über 5 Meilen,
dies war ordentlich kräftezehrend. Zum Glück war es morgens noch relativ
frisch. Doch schon bald zeigte sich, dass wir heute in den Hells Canyon fuhren.
Entlang des Powder Rivers war es landschaftlich und klimatisch angenehm.
Today was
the first real summer day. It was almost frighteningly hot in with afternoon
with 32 degrees C and no shade. Our day started with a 7% incline over 5 miles
which powered us out quite a bit. At least it was still pretty chilly. But soon
it was clear that we were riding through Hells Canyon. However, along the
Powder Rive it was comfortable, both landscape and climate wise.
Nach der Mittagspause, in einem Gartenrestaurant, wurde es
heiß und kein Schatten. Wir fuhren entlang der Staustufen, zuerst vom Powder
River und schließlich vom Snake River.
It got
really hot with the sun beating down after our lunch break which we spent in a
Garden restaurant. We rode along small dams, first of the Powder River, then of
the Snake river.
Nachdem wir die Stateborder zu Idaho passiert hatten, trafen
wir auf den bisher schönsten Campingplatz im Brownlee Reservoir.
After we
crossed the state border to Idaho, we found the most beautiful campground (so
far) in the Brownlee Reservoir.
Während Georg das Zelt aufbaute, sprach unser Nachbar uns an.
Nach kurzem Gespräch meine er, er würde gern ein kaltes Bier mit uns trinken,
allerdings will er mit seinen Kindern zum Angeln auf den See und wenn er zurück
kommt schlafen wir wahrscheinlich schon. Er brachte uns dann das kalte Bier
einfach so vorbei. Das Bier verdunstete beim Trinken.
Our neighbor approached us while Georg put up the tent. After a short conversation he invited us to a cold beer, but his kids were still fishing on the lake and we would probably be sleeping by the time he returned. He still brought us a beer, which almost evaporated while we were drinking.
